Product Overview

Choose the right laser marking machine by material and marking result

A laser marking machine alters the material surface through controlled heating, ablation or photochemical reaction. The result is a mark that is part of the material itself, not a printed label that can fade, peel or wash away.
For metal

  • 0.01mm spot and fine line detail
  • Cold photochemical marking
  • High contrast on sensitive plastics and glass
FIBER + MOPA

Fiber Laser Marking Machines for metals, alloys and engineering plastics

Fiber laser markers use a 1,064nm ytterbium fiber laser source and high-speed galvo mirrors to move the beam across the marking field without moving the workpiece.

Standard Fiber Laser Marker

Fiber lasers are strongly absorbed by most metals. On stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, brass, copper, titanium and coated metals, they can create black annealed marks, high-contrast ablation marks or deeper engraved marks for harsh industrial environments.

  • 20W for general serial numbers and barcode marking
  • 30W for daily production marking and logos
  • 50W for faster cycle time and deeper engraving
  • 100W for mold numbers, die stamps and heavy-duty permanent marking

MOPA Color Marking on Stainless Steel

A MOPA fiber laser provides independent pulse width and frequency control. This allows controlled oxide-layer formation on stainless steel and titanium, creating permanent color marks such as black, gold, blue, violet, green and red without ink or dyes.

  • Premium stainless steel branding
  • Medical device color-coding
  • Anodized aluminum marking
  • Decorative marks on luxury metal parts

CO2 + UV SYSTEMS

Non-metal engraving and cold-process precision marking

CO2 and UV laser marking machines expand material coverage beyond metal, allowing Arcus CNC to support packaging, glass, wood, acrylic, PCB and medical applications.

CO2 Laser Marking & Engraving Machines

A CO2 laser operates at 10,600nm and is strongly absorbed by organic and non-metallic materials. It creates carbonised marks on wood and leather, frosted marks on glass, smooth white engraving on acrylic and high-speed production codes on packaging materials.

  • Wood, MDF, bamboo and cutting boards
  • Acrylic signs, display panels and awards
  • Glassware, ceramics, leather and rubber
  • Cardboard, fabric and coated surfaces

UV Laser Marking Machines

A UV laser uses 355nm ultraviolet energy to break chemical bonds with minimal heat transfer. It is the preferred solution for materials that can deform, yellow, crack or delaminate under infrared laser energy.

  • PCB serial numbers and revision codes
  • Transparent plastics and medical packaging
  • Flexible circuits and PET films
  • Optical glass and high-value electronics

MARKING TYPES

Laser marking, engraving and etching — what is the difference?

The right marking process depends on whether you need a surface color change, a coating removal mark, a tactile engraved cavity or full-color marking on stainless steel.

Annealing

Surface marking without material removal. Best for stainless steel, titanium, medical parts and aerospace fasteners where corrosion resistance and a smooth surface are important.

Ablation

Removes a thin surface layer to create contrast. Best for coated metals, anodized aluminum, wood, acrylic, leather, barcodes, QR codes and logos.

Deep Engraving

Uses multiple passes to remove material to a controlled depth. Best for mold marks, die stamps, certification marks and parts exposed to wear.

MOPA Color

Creates controlled oxide layers on stainless steel or titanium for structural colors without ink, coating or post-processing.

Foaming

Forms a raised, light-colored mark on dark plastics such as ABS and PC. Common in automotive and electronics traceability.

CO2 Engraving

Creates carbonised, frosted or ablated marks on wood, acrylic, leather, glass, cardboard and organic materials.

BUYER GUIDE

How to choose the right laser marking machine

For most buyers, the correct system is decided by five practical questions: material, power, field size, marking result and safety enclosure.

1

Material type

Choose fiber for metals and engineering plastics, CO2 for organic non-metals, UV for heat-sensitive substrates, and MOPA for stainless steel color marking.

2

Power level

20W–30W fiber is cost-effective for surface marking. 50W improves cycle time. 100W supports faster deep engraving and heavy-duty permanent marks.

3

Marking area

Common field sizes include 110×110mm, 200×200mm and 300×300mm. Larger parts may require XY motion or a custom fixture.

4

Marking result

Choose surface marking for serial numbers, deep engraving for durable recessed marks, and MOPA for color marks on stainless steel or titanium.

5

Safety enclosure

Open systems require laser safety controls. Enclosed Class 1 systems are better for workshop deployment and operator-friendly production environments.
